Is it possible to learn guitar in a day? Yes, it is. You can start playing some basic guitar tunes after having spent as little as one day for studying. However, if you wish to learn more advanced and complex melodies, a day of learning will not be enough. To learn to play any popular song that you like, you will need to study and practice for at least several weeks.

In order to learn guitar basics in just one day, you need to choose the right way to learn. For instance, you could learn a couple of finger-picking rolls, which don't even require you to have any knowledge of reading guitar music. The issue with rolls is that you need to practice them a lot in order to make them sound perfect. You could learn a couple of rolls in merely a day (say, one three-finger roll and one four-finger roll), but you would need weeks to perfect them.

Another easy and fast way to learn guitar is learning to read basic guitar tab (this could take you as little as a couple of hours) and mastering one or two simple tunes, such as "The Little Star" or the "Happy Birthday" song.

Alternatively, you could decide to undertake a blitz guitar course composed by a knowledgeable guitar trainer (it may be hard or impossible to master any guitar course in just one day, but you could try and do it in a week). Downloadable courses (e.g., prerecorded video lessons) will enable you to practice at your own pace. So, if you want to practice all day long, you can do so. A comprehensive course would provide you with simple tabs, sound files with tunes, video instruction of the teacher playing these tunes, as well as different assignments for you to complete.

Just remember, a tab may seem intimidating at first, but the truth is that reading basic tab is very easy. A tab has six horizontal lines, each of which represents one of the six guitar strings.
